Best of both worlds

The passions there
So its gotta be right, right?

here are super overdue picturessss way back 2 weeks ago!

roy made dinner :)

we tried La Porchetta, an Italian pizza restaurant opposite my campus!

my dearest jalene! :)
and mama-san pearl

oooo yummy potato wedges with sour cream, I like!
this is so damn good!
although its a side dish but 4 of us felt so full after having it.
pizzas everydayyyyyy...its really cheap in Melb!
but im so sick of having it like 3 times a week man :(((

heres my favourite in La Porchetta- the meat lover.

our Smoked Salmon Pizza....
we are hungry monsterrssss

the most affordable and yummy pizzas can be found here!
Fast food's average price is like AUD 8bucks
and La Porchetta is so much cheaper than that!

we also had our studying session on the 2nd floor of the Sushi Tower,
its a common place of us to meet up in between breaks of classes.

theres a KFC near my campus too,
and their chicken taste so dry....
I miss all the cheap cheap fast food in S'pore.

yellow post it note! :)

hahaha jalene and roy checking out the sudden flock of birds...

I love grocery shopping with good company :)
Jlong, this photo is FOR YOU!!!
We look cuter than u in that beanie alright haha!
mr potato face-

LOOK momma, we're on CCTV!
look at how empty the lanes are on a weekday evening...

sometimes we gotta kill time a bit and wait for the free shuttle bus
after a session of grocery shopping at COLES...

A very unexpected surprise,
I bumped into my senior Hongqi!
She promise to drive me around melb once her exams are over!!
cant wait to see her soon....
a very excited me and Hq!

on the first week friday, a group of us decided to head down to melb central
after lessons at 6pm.

Jlong who is at clayton campus!

this is a very skinny Jacky 'chan'

my favourite girls!
on the escalator gg up to the first floor...

pretty babe :)

looks kinda fishy lens because of the huge 'wave-like' chair!

the weather was chilly cold...
I wondered how she can stand there the whole night!

the wall of a chinese restaurant

this is my very cute friend, her name is maria cindy priscilia SENTOSA,
no kidding! :) hahahaha!
Sentosa is her surname, how cool is that man!

me, tiffani and rio

heyho mates!

so we winded up at DA FU GUI, a supposedly international restaurant....
which failed to impress us :\

heres their "chinese style" of chicken with cashew nuts,
no nuts please!

and their fish looked kinda pathetic,
I could have just bought the mixed vegetables and frozen fish from
COLES and attempt to cook the same dish....

dan dan mian tasted so bland, a failure too haha!

the spicy slice beef in soupy noodles looks kinda good eh?
but the noodles were supposed to be dry as stated in the menu!

HAHAHAHAHA THIS IS THE FUNNIEST OF THE LOT.
from the menu, they stated :SPECIAL FRIED RICE.
That wasnt so special after all....
seriouslyyy whats wrong with DA FU GUI!!?

a closet bookworm specs on me :) haha
its actually beemo's accessory for the night!

somehow jalene looks pretty good with the black rimmed specs!

We left DA FU GUI pretty early
but the journey home was super long.
waited for train then ran after the last bus (which was arounnd 10plus pm).
It took me 2 hours to get home man :((((

during times like this, I really miss Singapore's MRT and SBS bus system!

On the following day, megan babe and her bf drove all the
way to my place to pick me up! :)
yay yay yay i was terribly excited to meet up with a familiar face in
a foreign land!

look at the sweet sweet couple :)

First stop was Brunetti!
we had a wonderful tea-break chit chat session

my tiramisuuuu!

the sun looks awesome on this pic!

me and a beautiful heart on my hot chocolate!
missing missing someone :(((

the desert at Brunetti was so so so good
and I dig their hot chocolates!

we walked along the streets and were quite disappointed
because all the shops were closed at 6pm already :(((
no shopping, nothing.

Then we walked into Lygon Court which was empty too
and saw some really beautiful flowers on sales!
Its so so so striking in colours and pretty affordable!
a whole bunch for $5, you cant find that price in s'pore!

love this shot of us!

We saw a long Q outside this place
and thought it was a bit weird to see people dressed in their Halloween costumes!
I mean it wasnt even Halloween on the 24th oct!

hahaha and then we passed by the side entrance of the place
and found it that its a vampire place for people
to hold corporate parties, Hen's Night and even funerals?!

I took this street shot around 6pm...
I swear the days are so long in melb because summer is approaching!
we walked and walked and someHOW
ended up in front of megan's hotel at Swanston St.
this shopaholic wanted to change into her new pair of heels!
WOAH, the amt of shopping she did!!!

our final stop was at starbucks,
before heading to Flinders Station to get home....

The next day was GROCERY SHOPPING DAY!
hahaha it really suck to take the bus on a weekend,
it only comes every one hour!
And you seldom take cabs in Melb becos it is expensive and runs by time not meter!

so we took bus 631 and headed to Glen Waverley...
weather was fairly good that day
so I was in good spirits!
Look at how cloudy it is but still so sunny at the same time,
luckily the weather wasnt crazy that day!

thats all for now peeps!

p.s I gotta hit the sack now, almost 2am!

more picture to come soon!!

miss nitty gritty

ITS RAINING PIZZAS AND ROBOTS

Heylo everyone!

I know I have tons of pictures which I promise I will upload soon soon!

As for now,

I'm a little stress fur ball who have a Management Essay, Marketing Report and Economics Assignment all due by end of next week.
There is really nothing to take all these workload off your mind unless you indulge in YOUR very own cooked food/ get takeaways or dine at a nice restaurant with mates. blahhh~
So now I seriously understand why some ppl put on a bit of chubby fats when they go overseas to study :\

Its also kinda weird to wake up in the morning with random cuts on my fingers and palms.
I've become a housewife of my own apartment over here, to cook, do laundry, vacuum the carpet, to change the sheets- you name it, I've got it! It has become my weekend routine :\
I even plan to bring my trolley bag out for grocery shopping on weekends soon! Lol...

Grocery shopping with my friends after school is my new hobby. Caulfield plaza is a 3mins walk from my campus so its COLES COLES COLES (supermarket) everyday for us. I even found out that COLES regularly changes their sales for dairy and food products every week (with wednesday as the 1st day of the sales week)!

And when I get home at night, sometimes I don't know what keeps me up. It could just be the sound of the traffic or perhaps even the anticipation of what tomorrow may bring. It's nights like these when I'm alone with my thoughts only to be jolted up by the sound of the cars zooming passed by or the sound of water running from up above me. During nights like these, I thought about the people whom I lived to see and die and those I dearly love. What could have been done and what should not have been done. And knowing that life is nothing but bittersweet, rare, and unexpected altogether makes it all the more harder to live and to die.

But I can never be more grateful for the friends here that have my back, I can never be more thankful for God's love, and how in the midst of all the drama and heaps of school work, his love still resides in my small small heart. Thats the most comforting and heartwarming realization- that your love endures forever.

I miss everyone in Singaland.

A week with mumsie

Mama Mia, Here We Go Again!

The weekends (after o week ended) was well-spent with mumsie and my friends.
We went to Chadstone Shopping mall with roy and pearl came later on after lunch to join us.

heres us goofing around in K-mart!
mum spotted some kitchen electronic appliances on sales,
like the 10dollars bread toaster! super worth it :)
diva was on great sales, awesome awesome awesome :)
I bought some accessories for sissy so my mum can bring it back to singaland.
roy, pearl and me :)
the boots here are on sales too, super good quality gg for 30 to 50bucks!

a pic of chadstone for yea,
its the biggest shopping mall in melb.
(15mins drive from my place)
heres us in Myer,
bring us to the race course pretty please :)

early evening, the peeps headed to my place and mumsie made dinner!

roy was an angel, he vaccum my room!! yay :)
this Roybot doesnt need to go for National Service
-.-
hahahaha malfunction vaccum cleaner...

my 3 favourite softies, specially flown from home :)

simple but yummy and satisfying dinner....

pearl surprised us with her "home-made" Chocolate Bavarian Cake from Coles.

muahaha, and I took out my secret weapon to go with her desert-
my VERY WICKED CHOCOLATE DIP :)
0000, so rich! my favourite!
soon after desert, roy and pearl left around 9plus because
it was getting dark and they needa catch the bus back....

anyways, skyping for the first time was great,
now I really love the wonders of skype :)

the very next day, mumsie and I set off really early in the morning
to explore the city of Melb.
heres me outside my place...
me and my dearly-missed mum :)
I took the train for the first time,
roy and jlong joined us for the day...
and pearl met us at melb central!

the journey took 45mins....
and sometimes during peark hours, I can take 2 hours to get home -.-

a very cheery me and gel-haired roy

we arrived at melb central...
the min I came out of the train, the whole environment reminded me
so much of citylink (cityhall) back in singapore!

the giant clock soon became our meeting point whenever
we wanted to meet up in town... hahaha!

first stop was the queen victorian market....
group shot!

meat, anyone?
moremoremore meat.
basically its like a morning fresh food market in s'pore...
but its air-conditioned over here in Melb.
theres also a huge version of a wide spaced out "bugis street"
where they sell everything from clothes to tourist souvenirs to food to...
well u get my point!

we spotted a rather huge dog, chatted a bit with the owner
and the dog's name is Alfie!
alfie and us!

we walked past a lingerie shop and here comes the teasings, oops!
woah, huge ZZ CUPS please!
we are the Zcupz Wonderbra Girls hahaha

horsey, i wanna ride!!!

exactly like thailand, they sell chicks over here too :)
3 for AUD 5, anyone???
they sell chicken too!?!?!?!
my oh my....

so cute..... gosh!
we went over the the foodcourt to fill our grumbling stomach,
the food in Melb all cost more than AUD7...
the standard price is like AUD8!
heres my very cute mum and me :)
nice shot of us! pearl looks so stylio mylio
and I look like a mongolian girl! hahahaha

we were camwhoring as usual
when suddenly 2 very friendly aussie dudes came over
and join us in the photo!

haha cant believe they actually lifted jlong up! omgosh!
wa walked around a bit longer to shop
before everyone headed back to my place for dinner!

while my mum was cooking, we all took a slow evening stroll
from my place to Jlong's place (a 15mins walk)
weather is around 10 to 12 degrees...
and it was pretty nice to jog or take a slow stroll.
tada, we finally arrived at his place!
this is where he lives,
and his bed sheets are super girly for some reason!
timer camera!
we were in love with the pretty flowers and bushes along the way...
a fruit tree outside Jlong's place
what fruit is this??? anyone knows???
beautiful flowers outside a childcare centre

then we all headed back to my place for dinner....

more dishes this time round, it was really scrumptious!

sadly that was the last dinner with my mum.
she left melb the very next day (early noon)....

We had a early morn trip down to Glen Waverley to shop a bit more,
had japanese food for lunch then back home to do some final packup...
Bid goodbye to my mum at my place instead, because the airport is really far
and it wasnt practical to send her off....

I had a terrible heart sinking feeling when she left,
felt so so so down and lost.
The room still lingered her smell, laughter and everything....
I was so miserable that evening,
I thought about how am i gonna cope for the following months,
doing laundry, cooking and all.

Like what they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Strangely, I miss my mum's serious naggings and her honey water.....

Luckily, I have a Roy-botic friend who accompanied me through the evening.
We went to Macs because he was starving.
Seriously, the fast food portions are really small,
and the prices are the same as the restaurants over here!

we had to wait 30 mins for the next bus because the public transport in melb
operates on fixed timings.
Theres a board at all bus-stops that shows us the timing of the next bus.
And I swear, taking the bus on the weekend is terrible.
the intervals of the buses are like 30 to 45mins long!
so we walked around and camwhored a bit!

at the petrol station!

we took the bus down to caulfield to meet pearl and her roomates,
walked to her place for dinner!

her shared apt. with 4 other roomates!
thats her friend in red trackpants who cooked for us!
shes a great cook :))))
we also helped out in the cooking process,
by peeling and chopping onions and garlics!

here comes my awesome skills at chopping it all into small bits!

Smith potatochips, very much like Lays Potatochips in S'pore!

made friends with meiyee and heres our dinner!
steamed garlic chicken!! I love it....

this is like a japanese dish, I forgot the name of it!
its egg and pork/chicken
sardines
one last dish to go...
oyster sauce can do wonders!
I love the vegetables too!
hahaha a very shy great cook!

meiyee, roybot and me took the free shuttle bus back to my place,
in fact it was the last bus.

thank you roy for walking me home,
I've learnt that it is very dangerous to walk home alone, even for a boy at night!

"No matter how hard the truth is, we can never have everything set up to be picture perfect.
God is in charge this little life of mine that is totally beyond my control."

p.s more pictures to come! never-ending blogging, omgosh!

Melbourne (Part 2) City Tour!

Rain rain go away
Let the sun come out and play!

hey hey my friends, despite catching a cold (due to the crazy weather)
I still went ahead for the city tour with my friends on the 4th day!

OH MAN, the day started out quite bad but it ended so very well with the great bunch of company I had :)

In the morn,  it started pouring like mad while I was walking to my campus
and silly me didnt bring an umbrella because it was all so sunny when i left my apt!

dang, what crazy weather right?! I was drenched from head to toe after...
thats why I fell sicker :\

jlong and me, with my hair soaked wet!

oh whee, its been a long time since I went on an excursion trip!

then the sunnies came into the pics!

first stop was at St.Patrick Cathedral,
it is one of the oldest catholic churches in Melbourne.
And being located at the city of Melb, it is really an integral part of Melb!

the church was built way before the war time....

jalene, me, vicky and aman
a group of us asked permission to enter the church...
as we entered.....
the peace of god.

the beauty of the cathedral really speaks of the glory of god.

at this sacred space, I took the opportunity to pray...

we hop back on the bus and headed to our next destination!

heres the back street of chinatown,
super cool place to film a music video with all that graffiti!

ooo i love this shot of me and jalene :)
we are in chinaaatownnn peeps....

i cant read those characters- a chinese temple.

the theatre where Jalene will perform for us in the near future....

really really colourful street.. check these out!

roybot and his dreamigirl -.-

this is my favourite one!

fei maooooo!

hahaha the backstreet peeps!

hey indian mama, whats ur flava?

heres a bubble tea shop- each cup cost about 4 to 5 aussie bucks!

we met our friends!!! lil kiddos on excursion too hahaha!

melb's version of S'pores Esplanade

hahaha betcha didnt know that this is a public toilet!
how cool man, the exterior design!

the trocks!!!!

the famous yarra river!

we took a stroll to our 3rd destination.... the eureka skydeck!

this is the highest viewing tower in melb!

heres us posing with our free admission tickets!
whee happy kids... and soon after....
jalene and alan burst out laughing at the dude who helped us took the pics! haha!
laughing queen! hahaha I seriously forgot why they were laughing so hardly.

on the lift, on the way up to the 88th floor!
way up to the 88th floor in 38 seconds!
the lift shoots up like a bullet train!

the viewing area with breathtaking views..

we went to the outdoor section of the viewing mall...
pretty scary if u look straight down...

the afternoons blue blue sky

i was trying to peep into the binoculars!

this is a great shot!  I didnt edit any of my photos...

roybot and me

wheeeee! I love the skydeck!

all of us were pretty exhuasted after a whole morn and noon of sightseeing,
most of them fell asleep on the way to St.Kildas Beach...

it became so cloudy and the wind was so cold....
we couldnt stand being there for more than 10 mins!
trying our best to take the photos for memories sake!

chilly chilly cold cold!
most of them hurried back to the bus....

the air was super fresh, I think I would want to go back there during summer!
heres a final shot of us before heading back to our campus!

I live pretty near my sch so basically everyday I'll walk to the bus loop at my uni
to take the free shuttle bus to my campus.
anyway I spot this on the cemented ground on the way back home.

can u figure out the words??

its home sweet home for me since I've my mum at my place to keep
me accompany for the next few days.
she made dinner and as u can see, we havent really gone shoppin
to get more plates and utensils yet!
mumsie's delicious salmon!
home-cooked soup! I miss that :(

one things for sure, I really do miss my mum's cooking.

my next post will be up soon :)

The Kolaland- Melbourne (Part 1)

Hey Ho, Mate!

Orientation on the first day ended on a happier note, I bonded
with s'pore Jalene, Jun Long and HongKong Roy...

heres us at our uni bus stop which serves free shuttle bus service to the other campus.

we went over to caulfield and had a yummy jap dinner!

soon after, it started to rain... and we were freezing cold!

I must say the weather in Melb is crazy, just like London.

It rains and shines at the same time!

In the day, it can be scorching hot with chilly wind and

at night the temp. can dip so low low low!

on the second day of orientation, we met pearl!

the dudes and I went over to the "Asian Market" which is at Clayton Plaza,

where they offer cheaper dairy and food products.

There are many discount shops and 2 dollars shop just like those in S'pore.

However, only one-third of the goods in the shop are actually 2 dollars!

the railway :) located in the middle of the market (its a long street)

I discovered that aussies dont really use packet tissues???

because its so rare to find packet tissues in supermarkets!

I dont know why, super weird....

they only carry one or two brands which are really expensive.

More expensive than a box of tissue!

enough said, on the 3rd day, it was the officially welcome
so we had free buffet and fun activities gg on the campus field.

The delicious food we had...

hahahaha, i feel like I'm in kindergarden again with all the colourful balloons
attached to each chair.

the year2s did some busking tricks!

heres alan and "jacky chan"- they really look like twins in real life!

they had free ice cream and cotton candy for all of us....

fairy floss, hahaha!

roy, me, pearl,jacky,jalene,aman and vicky!

we can play merry go around on the field the whole day

with the good weather, trust me!

our jumping shot!!!!!!!
it was really awesome...

radio monash interviewing Pearl
because we were having so much fun.... haha!

we started playing on those big bouncy balls....

and came games time!

our ICs

we played some duckduck goose game
while sitting down in a circle

hahaha i was attempting to run and not slip... the grass was kinda muddy!

we also had a massive tug of war....

After the games ended, I couldnt wait to settle my admin stuff
and headed straight back to my place, where my mum was waiting for me :)
(not forgetting to mention, she came in the morning of my 3rd day of Orientation)
miss you mummyyy... :)))

That basically sums up my 3 days of Orientation and bonding.
But thats not all folks, I'll be posting up the 4th day city tour soon :)

oh yes, before ending this post,
here are some aussie slangs- commonly used here, I supposed.

Holy Dooley! : means My Goodness!
Maccas: Macdonald
Milk Bar: corner shop that sells takeaway food

October's Roadshows

Children's Day Roadshow 2009
(at Singapore Poly)

So I woke up at an ungodly hour of 6am and got down to S'pore Poly early in the morn
for a Children's Day show.
It was meant for the children from 27 different service community family centres.

heres a very nice shake and me...

a student helper from s'pore poly was preparing the balloons and
tidying up of the auditorium before the children entered...

the show started an hour late due to some unforeseen circumstances,
so shake and I decided to plop down on one of the auditorium seats for a lil chat.

he even had enough time to charge his Iphone haha!

And finally, the show begin with some welcome speech....

basically I played children's day games with the kiddos on stage
for a solid 1 and a half hour!
first game was a REALLY LONG "uno stacko" game with huge blocks provided
and then came the second game which was a last min stand-by thing I thought of.
i think i was asking the kids to support their fellow friend on stage...

I must say it was good to see all the young kiddos enjoying themselves and being so sportin.
These children are under special care from the family service centres in S'pore,
like from Marine Parade, Hougang, Ang Mo Kio, etc.
And to be able to put a smile on their faces that day, actually made me really really happy.

heres a last shot of us before leaving the premise for the next event.
outside the auditorium was a showcase....
that forms the words "KIDS BREAK" with many folded stars,
S'pore poly entered the world book of records for forming the most numbered of stars to form a sentence!
heres me and a few student planners/coordinators of the event!
it was a great pleasure to work with them.
Thank you for the great feedback!

shake and I made our way down to Marina Square for some munch munch
at carls junior....

and then WE WERE OFF TO OUR NEXT EVENT...

THE MEDIACORP TRADE SHOW 2009

This year's trade show was held at Ritz Carlton and
boy was I star-struck once again....
The trade show is held annually and all the artistes are involved.
